Don’t Miss: Misquamicut’s Fall Fest 2011

Friday, September 16, 2011

Fall may be looming, but the 2011 beach season never ends at Westerly’s Misquamicut Beach. The 2011 Misquamicut FallFest, a waterfront weekend of fun, carnival fun, and lots of classic rock and roll, is the first of its kind.

Sponsored by The Misquamicut Business Association, Misquamicut FallFest kicks off a jam-packed weekend of live entertainment, food, rides, crafts and more on Friday, September 16th at 5pm, with a performance by The Classic Rock All Stars at 8pm and a world-class fireworks display at 9:30pm.  From then, until 5pm Sunday, FallFest features high-gear entertainment and activities for the whole family!

Besides a full line-up of entertainment, the FallFest also features an outdoor international food court and beer and wine garden, a chock-full midway of rides and games, a petting zoo and pony rides, a Classic Car Cruise, a NASCAR racing car AND the “Surftown Half” which will be a half marathon starting and ending at the Festival.

Food!

Over 25 New England food vendors will be on hand to serve local festival favorites from chowder to sausage and peppers, fried dough, kettle corn and BBQ dishes. In addition, over 40 crafters and commercial vendors will sell their wares. Kids can enjoy henna tattoos, hair wraps, and face painting while adults can enjoy local beers at The Beer & Wine Garden on the Salt Pond at Paddy’s Beach, and craft shopping for handbags, t-shirts, jewelry, and housewares.

Rock on

Rock with your favorite music as FallFest brings national headliners to the spacious music tent including The Classic Rock All Stars Friday Night featuring members of the legendary bands The Knack, Blues Image, Iron Butterfly, Steppenwolf and Blue Oyster Cult. Listen for hits like “My Sharona,” “Don’t Fear the Reaper,” Magic Carpet Ride,” and “Ride Captain Ride." Terry Sylvester of The Hollies will perform hits such as “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress” and “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother.” Additional features include The Cryers performing the Beatles classic album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” in its entirety. An array of local bands will keep the tunes flowing daily, providing non-stop music.

Kid fun

Walk the midway of world-class rides including the Ferris Wheel, Scrambler, kiddie rides and games. Little ones can visit the Circle K Petting Zoo, enjoy pony rides, and the Save The Bay educational marine Touch Tank.  They can even enjoy a special obstacle course with Kids on the Go.
