DON’T MISS: Voices of MetroWest’s Spring Concert - Anthology

Tuesday, April 22, 2014

The Voices of MetroWest choir presents its spring concert, “Anthology” this weekend in Natick.

The concert will include a rich variety of music that has special meaning to the choir members as the group celebrates its fifth anniversary. Folk, pop, Broadway, and gospel tunes—often in seven-part harmony—will fill the family-friendly evening of a cappella music.

“It will truly be a celebration of music throughout the generations,” says director Chauncey Moore, who has prepared the choir to sing a unique arrangement of “Amazing Grace” that has never been heard on stage before. Members, who often refer to the choir as “Glee Club for adults,” come from Boston and the greater Metrowest area. Jennifer Foss of Ashland, Mass., will be performing two solos, including a “Aquarius.” Kelley Foley of Natick, Mass., takes a turn at the solo mic with Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up,” and a powerful version of the Beatles’ “Let It Be.” Kim Keefe, also of Natick, will channel her inner Tina Turner with a rendition of “Proud Mary” that is part of a Tina/Rolling Stones mash-up. Suzanne Morrissey of Sutton, Mass., says that the show is part performance, part sing-along. “Even if the only place you sing is in the shower, this is the show for you,” she says. “Voices of Metrowest shows are always a good time. Seeing grandparents clapping along with their grandkids to everything from Pharrell to Billy Joel to Pete Seeger is pretty amazing!”

Performances will take place at Kennedy Middle School on Mill Street in Natick on Saturday, April 26th at 7:30 pm and on Sunday, April 27th at 2:30 PM. Sunday’s performance will feature opening act Fools on the Hill from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.

Tickets ($15 adults/$10 children and students) are available now online. There will be tickets at the door for $2 more.

Voices of MetroWest is a non-profit, volunteer-run community chorus based in Natick. Singers of all ages, trained and non-trained, are welcome to join. Check here for more information about the concert or joining the choir.
