Don’t Miss: “Women Helping Women” Crossroads Fundraiser

Thursday, March 24, 2011

As the homelessness of Rhode Island women continues to climb at a disturbing rate, there is no better month than March for women stepping up to help their fellow women. And next week presents the ideal opportunity.

Crossroads will add to the celebration of March as Women Helping Women month with its fourth annual Women Helping Women event on Thursday, March 31st at 5:30pm at Café Nuovo in Providence.

An event hosted by women, for women

This special fundraising event is hosted by women for women and all proceeds will support the Women's Shelter and other programs for women at Crossroads Rhode Island. General Treasurer Gina Raimondo, Vice Chair of the Crossroads Rhode Island Board of Directors, is the event's chair.

In recent months, there has been an unprecedented surge in the number of homeless women who are seeking assistance at Crossroads.  Last year alone, Crossroads served 400 women and that number continues to increase.

Crossroads invites women to join them for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres and a chance to network with other prominent women in the community who are joining together to support a most worthy cause.  The cost is
$100 per person. To purchase tickets, register online at www.crossroadsri.org. If you are unable to attend, you may support Crossroads Rhode Island's women's programs by making a donation at the Web site as well.

Women 50 strong in support

Fifty prominent Rhode Island women have joined forces to co-host the event in order to show their support of this most worthy cause:
