Fit For Life: I’ve Got Two Words For You

Are you on the “A” List?
At Providence Fit Body Bootcamp, as well as every other gym in the world, there are primarily two types of clientele. In my gym, there are those who hang on every word that I say, and do everything I tell them to do. They show up 3-5 times per week, and everyone that shows up, has to work hard; and then they leave and eat the way they are supposed to eat. Not an easy task to accomplish, but with a little hard work ethic instilled, not impossible. These are the clients that are getting amazing results. They exert the extra effort to make time to exercise, and prepare their meals. They don't make excuses, and the words "I can't " are eliminated from their vocabulary. They understand what it takes, and they do whatever it takes to get it done, and the results are always favorable!
Or the “B” List?
The other type of client (and you know who you are) sometimes forget what it takes, and they need me to remind them on a regular basis to step up their game, and that's ok, because that's what I'm here for. They can be inconsistent with their workouts or nutrition program, and that's why progress halts, and sometimes goes backwards. No, I am not picking on my clients, just telling it like it is, because everyone knows when they've been focused, and working hard, or just coasting, or going through the motions. You know whether you are cheating with your eating, and missing workouts, and I will know if someone is putting in the effort when I ask them to check in on the scale. The food slackers usually refuse, or confess to doing something detrimental to their health so I tell them to pick up the pace, and clean up their eating for the next few days, and I'll get their weight then.
If someone is not getting the results they envisioned, they are not usually surprised, and almost always admit they haven't been focused, or putting in the effort needed. I make it clear at my initial consultations that I can create a simple efficient path to your goals, but it won't be easy, and it will take a lot of hard work, discipline, and consistency to pull this off. Then I ask them if they are ready for me to hold them accountable for their actions, and get on their case if they don't get results. So, they know if they don't put in the work, I will know at weigh in time.
I also noticed how these two words have an impact on the business world. I know many successful as well as many unsuccessful people, and what separates the two is both mindset and work ethic. Everyone has ideas, and envisions themselves in a better place, but what creates a difference is that some are action takers, and some refuse to push themselves to put in the hard work required to accomplish their goals. Everyone that I know who is successful worked their behinds off to get there, and everyone who is not has some excuse, or blames someone else for why they aren’t successful. Yeah, I know some people born into wealth that have a leg up, and easier lives, but in order to build success, it requires the mindset and “no quit” attitude many don't have.
The choice is yours…
You need to be at work before most are awake, and still be there when most are asleep. You need to work holidays and weekends, and accept that there really won’t be such a thing as vacation time, sick days, and 40 hour work weeks – when you are building to success. To be truly successful takes more work than the "average" person is willing to put in. Successful lazy people? They rarely exist. The choice is ultimately up to you, and how you want to live your life. Do you want ultimate health and fitness? Do you want to succeed in business ? If your answer is "yes”, then I am telling you that it's all possible, BUT, only if you are willing to incorporate two words into your daily routine - HARD WORK. If you aren’t willing to put in the effort, then you can expect to be "average" at best, on every level of your life. For some of us, that’s just not an option.
