video: Pulitzer Prize Winning Author Geraldine Brooks Speaks at Johnson & Wales
Thursday, December 16, 2010
Geraldine Brooks, acclaimed journalist and Pulitzer-Prize-winning author, spoke Tuesday at Johnson & Wales University in Providence. Since having children, she said, she left international journalism behind to write historical non-fiction; her settings have ranged from a 17th-century small English village beset by the Plague (Year of Wonders), to the Civil War experiences of the fictional Mr. March, father to the famous sisters of Louisa May Alcott's Little Women (March).
Brooks took time to talk with GoLocalProv's Tracey Minkin, at Johnson & Wales's Xavier Auditorium, about her upcoming work as well as the role of historical fiction, and the importance of writing.
