Getting Out: Spring Cocktails in Central Mass

Thursday, April 11, 2013

The beautiful bar set-up at EVO.

Spring has been here for a few weeks now but we are finally beginning to feel it. The mild temperatures and crisp Spring air are here and with this beautiful weather comes the desire to simply relax and take it all in. What better way to do this then going out on a weekend night with friends and sipping on a nice Spring cocktail. There are plenty of perfect places in Central Mass that can help you accomplish this goal. Here are just a few.

EVO

234 Chandler Street, Worcester
All month long award-winning EVO is promoting delicious spring cocktails made with Rain Organics, their new house vodka that comes in many flavors and contains 100% organic ingredients. Promotions include giveaways and sample tastings on select nights. A few of these special cocktails include among others: the Mint-Tini (Cucumber Lime Vodka, fresh lime juice, Basil Mint Simple Syrup, garnished with a cucumber slice); Rain Mango Tango (Honey Mango Melon Vodka, orange juice, cranberry juice, served over ice, garnished with lime); and Singing in the Rain (Red Grape Hibiscus Vodka, cherry juice, splash of 7up, served over ice and garnished with cherry).

Citizen Wine Bar

120 Commercial Street, Worcester
Obviously the Citizen is famous for its fantastic collection of wines, but that does not mean it can't mix a few great cocktails as well. Special for the Spring, try the Pamplemousse, made with 1.5 oz Milagro Silver Tequila, .75 oz Combier Grapefruit Liqueur, .5 oz Yellow Chartreuse Liqueur, .75 oz fresh squeezed lime Juice, and garnished with a twist of lime.

Rye and Thyme

14 Monument Square, Leominster
The Rye and Thyme is famous for its terrific selection of scrumptious seafood (especially shellfish), but this authentic American Restaurant also boasts an impressive selection of drinks. Special for the Spring, try the Buffalo Bramble made with 2 oz Buffalo Trace Bourbon, .75 oz Honey Simple Syrup, .75 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice, served over crushed ice, topped with a spoon full of Creme Yvette Black Berry Liqueur and garnished with black berries.

Destare

324 Main Street, Fitchburg
This highly-fashionable, European-style cafe, night club and martini bar is rolling out a new special spring cocktail starting this weekend, adding to its already extraordinary menu of assorted cocktails and martinis. It is called the Wild Blueberry and contains 1 oz. of Stoli Blueberry Vodka, 1 oz. Three Olives Marilyn Monroe Strawberry Vodka, cranberry juice, and splash of lime juice sugared rim with fresh blueberries.

Ceres Bistro

363 Plantation Street, Worcester
Ceres Bistro located at the Beechwood Hotel is a great restaurant and bar for all seasons. Any one of Ceres' Signature cocktails could be perfect for a nice spring night or afternoon. Try the Bubbling Pear in particular, containing Xante Pear Cognac, Thatcher's Organic Blueberry Liqueur, some honey simple syrup and topped with cava; or the Blood Cosmo, made with Double Cross Vodka, St. Germain, raspberries, squeezed blood orange juice, and cranberry juice.

Sweet

305 Shrewsbury Street, Worcester
Visit Sweet Bakery and Bar and try their Refresh Martini made with Bluecoat Gin, Fresh Cucmber Soda and Thai Basil . Also grab an Orange Mojito or a Grapefruit Mojito which are perfect for circus season. A little further into spring is the best time for Strawberry Mojitos. Lastly, order a Pink Margarita made with Mejor Pink Tequila, fresh lemon and a splash of pomegranate.
