GETTING OUT: The Best Halloween Parties in Central Mass

Thursday, October 25, 2012

The crowd at Jillian's for Halloween last year.

When you're a kid Halloween is about candy, trick or treating, and costumes. When you're an adult (or at least an older kid), Halloween is about parties and, well, still costumes, but perhaps a different sort. Unfortunately, Halloween is right, smack in the middle of the week this year, but there are plenty of opportunities being offered by clubs, bars and restaurants in the Central Mass area to have great costume, music and game-filled fun this (or next) weekend.  Here are just a few. Also, don't forget the about the Canalloween events in the Canal district on Saturday.

Three G's
152 Millbury Street, Worcester
Three G's sports bar is having a Halloween Party on October 27th as part of the Canalloween celebration. The T-bone Blues Band will be performing. Come enjoy the pool table, the dart board and, of course, the dance floor, all much improved while in costume I'm sure. Enjoy the wide-ranging selection of domestic and imported beers, mixed drinks, and liquors, and take advantage of various specials.

Perfect Game
64 Water Street, Worcester
The popular Sports bar Perfect Game is having a Halloween Party as part of the Canalloween festivities on October 27th. Regrettably, last year, a planned "Jersey Shore" themed party was disrupted by the blizzard, but this year should more than make up for it. No theme this year necessarily, but there will be a costume contest with Celtics tickets going to the winner. Enjoy the great sports memorabilia on the wall while you're there.

Lucky Dog Music Hall
89 Green Street, Worcester
The Lucky Dog Music Hall has a whole week of Halloween festivities, including a two-night Halloween Bash October 26th and October 27th, full of horror and music. Bands performing on Friday include American Hellbilly (A Rob Zombie Tribute Band), Fuel of War, The Genre Whores and Centerlink. The extravaganza on October 27th will include a costume contest and a chance to win an Ipad 2. The Deadites will headline this sixteenth annual celebration. Other bands will include Teeel, Nytmare and Beaver McD vs. Captain Insidious. Tickets cost $8 in advance, $10 at the door. It all begins at 9 pm. PS: There will also be a costume party on Halloween night itself with no cover.

Ralph's Rock Diner

148 Grove Street, Worcester
Ralph's Diner is having two full nights of heavy metal cover bands in addition to their usual "Heavy Metal Thursdays" in honor of Halloween this Friday and Saturday. You will hear the music of such legendary acts as Black Sabbath, Andrew WK, Led Zeppelin, GWAR, Spinal Tap, Electric Wizard, and much more. And, of course, one can wear anything they want. The cost is $6 each night. Also you enjoy the terrific selection of beer and liquor. Festivities on Friday begin at 8:30 and begin at 7:30 on Saturday.

65 Water Street, Worcester
This authentic New Orleans kitchen and Oyster Bar is yet another restaurant and bar in the canal district participating in the Canalloween event on October 27th. Ramblin' Dan Stevens, a three-piece blues band, will be performing. While you're there, check out their terrific selection of great food, Louisiana style! Try not to get any on your costume! Of course, there is a full bar as well. As their motto goes, let the good times roll!

Nick's Bar and Restaurant
124 Millbury Street, Worcester
Nick's is having its "Scary-oke" Halloween Party on Saturday, October 27th.  There will be game, prizes, live music, costume contests, dancing and more. In addition, there will also be a Halloween Bash on Friday night featuring the musical talents of Trina Vargas, Tom Spears, and pianist Russ McHenry. These events begin at 9 pm. Also check out the festivities on the day itself! There will be a showing of the legendary silent film "Nosferatu" with live accompaniment by Nat (Count Natula) , followed by tricks, treats, and music. As always enjoy great drinks and food.

The Banner Bar & Grille
112 Green Street, Worcester
The Banner will be holding its Halloween Party on October 27th. The guest DJ will be B-LO. Prizes will be awarded for best costume in the categories of sexiest, funniest and most original. As always, take a glance at their menu for some tasty, pub style food. Check out the sports memorabilia lining the walls and the nine impressive plasma TVs that will certainly be showing whatever game may be going on.

315 Grove Street, Worcester
On the night of October 27th, visit Jillian's to eat, drink, and play Halloween style at Halloween Bash 3.0. Mass Octane will be the featured band. There will be costume contests, games, and giveaways. $1,000 will be given out in cash prizes through the various competitions, which will include pumpkin chucking and Frozen T-shirt contests! As always, enjoy the arcade filled with great games, the dance floor, the many pool tables, great drinks, good food, and the massive big screen TV. There is a $5 cover.

Beemer's Pub
114 Street, Fitchburg
For those who want Halloween to last just a little longer, Beemer's Pub in Fitchburg is right for you. Come to their "Halloweenscream" Costume Party on Saturday, November 3rd. There will be live music from "Playin' Dirty", dancing, a cash bar, and a costume contest in the categories of best couple, sexiest, scariest and worst. If you win for best costume overall, you win the grand prize: a trip to Hawaii! The festivities begin at 9 pm.

Classic's Pub
285 Central Street, Leominster
The band Party Train, self-described as the "hottest and sexist band  in New England", is bringing  their high-energy music to Classic's Pub in Leominster for a Halloween-themed dance party. Bring your costumes but make sure they're loose enough to allow you to move to the music. As always enjoy great drinks and a great atmosphere.
