slides: Getting Out: Where to View the Stars in Central Massachusetts

Thursday, July 18, 2013

We are in the midst of a brutal heat wave here in Central Mass. Simply taking a step outside during the day seems a chore at times, but staying inside can be such a bore.

But there is no need to fret.

Why not wait for it to cool off a bit, and take advantage of the natural beauty of the night sky. Escape all the artificial constraints of society, the light and noise pollution, and find a nice quiet, dark place to view the majestic stars and galaxies, and perhaps a shooting star or a planet or two if you're lucky. Viewing the stars is certainly a great activity for amateur astronomers and other curious folk, but it can also be a very romantic activity for some and a great way to clear your head and relax for others. Here are a few places recommended for just such an activity.
