Girl Scout Camp Bonnie Brae to Celebrate 95th Anniversary

Camp Bonnie Brae in East Otis, MA will celebrate its 95th Anniversary on Saturday, August 2, 2014. Camp Bonnie Brae is the longest, most continuously-run Girl Scout camp in the United States.  

Lakeside celebration

A lakeside celebration, which will be hosted by Bonnie Brae alumnae, will bring together past, present and future campers, staff, and their families. A special guest will share her perspective of the long-lasting impact of the camp experience as well as camp history.

There will also be a campfire, wishboat ceremony, and s'mores.

Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts serves over 10,000 girls in grades K through 12 with the strong support of over 5,000 adult volunteers in 186 towns and cities in central and western Massachusetts. Ashuwillticook Rail Trail

Like the Cape Cod trail the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail is a former railroad corridor converted into a 10 foot wide bicycle path. This 11.2 mile path passes through the Hoosic River Valley and between the Mount Greylock and the Hoosac Mountain Ranges. Nashua River Rail Trail

The Nashua River Rail Trail travels along numerous scenic overlooks and is a 10 foot wide paved trail that extends 11 miles. The trail extends through the towns of Ayer, Groton, Pepperell and Dunstable. The entire trail is open to pedestrians, bicyclists, inline skaters and wheel chairs. Minuteman Bikeway

The Minuteman Bikeway is known as America’s Revolutionary Rail Trail and passes through the historic area where the Revolutionary War began in 1775.  This path has become the perfect place for people to come together, ride their bikes, and walk the path. Blue Hills Reservation

The Blue Hills Reservation covers 7,000 acres of land and includes a network of wide carriage roads and rocky hilltop trails making it ideal for mountain bikers of all ages and skill levels. About 30 miles Northeast of Boston is Cape Ann, a rocky cape on the Atlantic Ocean. One of the most beautiful spots to bike on Cape Ann is on Route 127. Dr. Paul Dudley White Bike Path

The Dr. Paul Dudley White Bike Path is a path that runs 14 miles and follows the banks of the Charles River from the Museum of Science to Watertown Square. Pierre Lallement Southwest Corridor Bikepath

Arnold Arboretum

This 125 year old Boston city park and Harvard Research Center used to be closed to bikers but that is no longer the case.
