GiveMe5 Film Festival Seeks Teen Filmmakers

Every teen who's ever dreamed of making a film and getting it screened needs to pay attention.

GiveMe5, the film festival for Rhode Island high schoolers, is coming up this spring and is calling for submissions of five-minute films. The festival will screen winners on Saturday, May 21.

Two years ago the RI Arts Learning Network, with the RI Film and Television Office premiered GiveMe5, a festival for high school teens from around Rhode Island to showcase 5-minute films and get feedback from a special guest panel. Check out last year's Festival on the Web site. This year's 2011 GiveMe5 Festival is Saturday, May 21st.

Also launched was the GiveMe5 Lab, where teen filmmakers come together to network, challenge and expand their filmmaking skills. This year's Lab will feature the "Make a Minute Movie" Challenge" - a chance for teen filmmakers to create a 1-minute film with specific challenges announced that day. All students will make their film with a team and film coach, and then showcase and discuss the finished pieces.
