NEW: Holy Cross Professor’s Music to Debut in Boston
Wednesday, April 04, 2012
The concert, entitled “Origins,” is highlighted by Korde's work of various musical influences, and will take place on April 27th at 8 PM. Korde's music regularly features the uncommon combination of Indian and Western sounds. “KA” will feature music influenced not only by India, but also Israel, Peru, and the American South.
BMV is Boston's first contemporary music ensemble and has worked with Korde many times in the past. They partnered with the professor for his opera entitled “Phoolan Devi: The Bandit Queen,” which premiered in 2010.
Carnatic (A South Indian musical style) soprano Deepti Navaratna, who debuted for BMV in “Phoolan Devi,” will be featured.
Korde was in the Master of Music program at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, and completed his graduate degree at Brown University. He has served on Holy Cross' faculty since 1976.
The three other composers featured in “Origins” are Jorge Villavicencio Grossmann, Eitan Steinberg, and Ezra Sims.
Tickets are priced from $10-$30. Advanced tickets are available at BMV's website or by calling the Boston Musica Viva box office at (617) 354-6910.
