Proceeds benefit the Warwick-based House of Hope, a residential program meeting the spiritual, emotional, academic, physical and financial needs of residents. Emily Hampton, House of Hope’s fund development manager, explained that while tonight will be a fun-filled, fashionable occasion, it’s an opportunity to focus on the issue of women and homelessness. “For many people, the picture of homelessness is an old man on the street, but the reality is, homelessness is a mom and her kids on the street,” she said. “The face of homelessness has changed dramatically in recent times, especially in this economy.”
Hope in the City is from 6–8:30pm at the Quonset O Club in North Kingstown. Tickets are $40 general admission, $60 VIP which includes no-wait entry, front row fashion show seating, and a special gift bag. Call 463-3324 x233 for reservations.
