Lucky Dog Music Hall Rumors Dispelled
Monday, October 27, 2014
Lucky Dog has a rich history of hosting famous bands such as The Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, and Clarence Clemons. But it's legacy can not and will not end for locals who still love and appreciate live entertainment.
Rumors of the Central Massachusetts institution closing its doors have been circulating as of late. So when GoLocal reached out to owner Erick Godin, we were delighted to hear that this was just, well, a rumor. "I know the rumor mill has been spinning wildly about this. I'm just going to say we won't do anything until we are able to pass the torch," said Godin. "I've been doing this for 16 years and I'm starting to feel that there is a lack of interest in live music these days. It's a tough position to be in."
Godin would not comment on the identity of interested party/parties but acknowledged that a deal may not be struck until spring.
Luckily, The Lucky Dog has no intention of closing it's doors for now - but perhaps more support and respect should be granted to a venue that has seen a range of performances from the high school garage bands to internationally known acts.
