Massachusetts a Hot Bed for Sugar Daddies

Saturday, March 31, 2012

The country’s largest “Sugar Daddy” dating website has released data on where America’s sugar daddies reside, and Worcester may have a few more than you expected.

Where Worcester Stands

The site, SeekingArrangement.com, lumped Worcester into the “Boston-Metro” area in its survey, a region that had the second most sugar daddies per capita in the country. The San Francisco-Metro area was the only region with a higher rate than Boston’s 3.2 sugar daddies for every 1,000 men.

While Worcester’s numbers are lower than Boston-Metro as a whole, the city does have its fair share of sugar daddies. 1.6 out of every 1,000 men in Worcester is registered with the site as a sugar daddy, and they spend an average of over $3,500 a month on their “sugar babies.”

If Worcester was to be ranked by itself for density of sugar daddies per 1,000 men, it would come it at 16th in the country, just behind New Orleans, Louisiana, and just ahead of Dallas, Texas. The average sugar daddy in Worcester is 42-years old, a slight bump up from the 39-year old average in Boston-Metro as a whole. One particularly interesting stat, is that 49% of the men in Worcester registered as sugar daddies are married, many not to their sugar babies.

Sugar Daddy Stereotypes

Seeking Arrangement founder and CEO Brandon Wade knows that figures like that create controversy around his site, but insists that the majority of the members of the site go against many people’s stereotype of a sugar daddy.

“I think the concept of being in a relationship and being generous is at the heart of the site,” Wade said. “Many of the traits of a sugar daddy could also be described as the traits of a traditional gentleman. He stands when a lady enters the room, he pampers her, and he never allows her to pay.”

Wade went on to say that the site does have a section for “Sugar Couples,” in which the sugar daddy is married to his sugar baby. But, he admits that the vast majority of the men on the site that were married were cheating.

For Sugar Daddies by A Sugar Daddy

Wade founded the site six years ago in order to solve a problem he was having in his life. Despite a vast amount of early personal success, including graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Wade struggled to find dates. That was his inspiration.

“Founding the site was very much motivated by a lot of pain I had in my life,” Wade said. “I was lonely growing up, and very socially inept. I never dated as a kid. My mother always told me that if I focused on my studies and was successful, that girls would come. The site was sort of founded out of that sort of inspiration.”
