Modern Love To Open in Downcity

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Designer and businesses owner Karen Beebe is set to expand her entrepreneurial reach in downtown Providence as she puts the final touches on her newset retail endeavor, Modern Love. Nestled between the chic shops along Downcity’s trendy Westminster Street, the shoe and accessories shop promises to be a trendy complement to her already successful Queen of Hearts, a hip clothing boutique. “I love it downtown. I feel the businesses support one another too, and I don’t think you can find that in just any community," said Beebe. "We’re all for each other and have each other’s back. That alone makes me want to continue to be here.”

If the Shoe Fits

A self-taught seamstress who produces her own clothing line, Lucille, from her studio at Queen of Hearts, Beebe says the new enterprise will carry handbags, jewelry, hats, gloves, hosiery and socks in addition to chic kicks by Seychelles, DC, Irregular Choice, Poetic License, Nicole and Frye. Moden Love, a “shoe store for the modern woman,” is set to open at 220 Westminster Street, next month. Follow the shop's progess by reading the Queen of Heats blog here.
