Navy Newport’s Holiday Concert Coming Dec. 11

Monday, December 06, 2010

It's not often you get on the Navy base, and get a free concert as well.

So don't miss this December 11, when the President of the Naval War College and the Commanding Officer of Naval Station Newport invite the public to come and celebrate the holiday season with Navy Band Northeast at 6:30 pm in Spruance Auditorium at the Naval War College. The free concert features the Navy Band Northeast Pops Ensemble, Showband, Dixieland Group and a Holiday Sing-A-Long. This will be a fun-filled musical experience for the entire family to enjoy.

But it does take a little advance planning. Members of the general public who are interested in attending must call Naval Station Newport Public Affairs by 1 pm on Dec. 10 to have their full names (and those of their guests) placed on an access list. Contact the office by calling 841-3538 or e-mail: [email protected]. Attendees must have a photo ID and provide the ages of children without IDs.

The concert will be a collection point for the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program, so consider bringing a toy to donate.

The show is approximately 1¼  hours.  Guests are reminded that food and drink are not allowed inside Spruance Auditorium for the concert.

Naval War College, 686 Cushing, Newport. For more information about Navy Band Northeast’s performance schedule, visit the Web site, here.
