NEW: Hanover Theatre Tops in Worldwide Ticket Sales

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts ranked 45th in ticket sales worldwide for the first half of 2012, according to Poilster's midyear report.

In 2011, the Hanover ranked 38th in worldwide ticket sales.  Pollster has named Hanover Theatre to its Top 50 Theatres Worldwide list, ranking it at #35.

Pollstar is an online concert ticket and entertainment source.

Lisa Condit, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the theatre said she was very proud to be a part of the team that keeps The Hanover Theatre on the lists of Top Theatre Venues Worldwide.

"It's especially impressive that we rank as one of the top theatres for ticket sales considering that we don't report sales for two of our biggest annual productions, A Christmas Carol, and The Nutcracker, because they aren't touring productions," Condit said.  "We achieved our highest ranking so far for the first quarter of this year (#33 for Q1). Compare that to all of 2011, when we were actually ranked #62 worldwide, and you'll probably agree that the overall trend is definitely going in the right direction...especially considering we hadn't reported our sales for some of our most popular performances from Q2 yet. (Blue Man Group was incredible!) Like I've said before, look out world, here comes Worcester!"

In the ten years since the initial vision for the Hanover Theatre, the venue has been home to musicals, plays, concerts, comedians, lecture series, family shows and community events.  Nearly 100 different productions and events are held at the theatre each year.

The next production at the Hanover is Legally Blonde - The Musical, which will be performed on July 28 and 29 as the culmination of the theatre's Youth Summer Program.

Upcoming shows for the fall include Mary Poppins (Broadway Subscription Series), Late Nite Catechism 3 and Cruising with the Oldies. The popular theatre is also home to annual traditions like the Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol.
