NEW: RI Lottery’s “Diamond Quest” Scavenger Hunt Hits Downtown Providence

Friday, June 17, 2011

It's good enough to be a reality show.

Tomorrow in downtown Providence, 25 Rhode Island Lottery players and their beloved sidekicks are going on a crazed scavenger hunt... to win a 1.05 carat diamond.

It's called "Diamond Quest," and according to organizers the questers tomorrow vary in age, motive, and familiarity with Providence. But everyone's ready to solve clues and come up with the goods. The participants were drawn randomly by the RI Lottery from a pool of non-winning 420 Black Diamonds Instant Tickets that players had mailed in.

If you want to come down and watch the action, the hunt begins at 10am, and there will be an awards ceremony at RiRa Irish Pub at 12:30. The prizes include the diamond, a 1.05 carat round brilliant white cut gem from Adornment Fine Jewelry, a $1,000 gift certificate to Adornment to be used for custom wedding bands as well as a $500 gift certificate, and an engagement photo session by Sara Zarella Photography.

Isn't it romantic?
