New: Venerini Academy will Host Community Reading Day 2013

Venerini Academy will host "Community Reading Day" tomorrow, April 11, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. The independent, Catholic, pre-kindergarten-3-through-Grade-8 school is located at 27 Edward St. in Worcester.

Participating as readers in this year's Community Reading Day, which takes place annually during National Library Week, are, in order of grade level:

• Pre-Kindergarten 3: A representative of the Worcester Fire Department
• Pre-Kindergarten 4: Peter Roberge of the Worcester Police Department and parent of a Venerini student
• Kindergarten A: Dr. Bart Murphy of West Side Animal Clinic in Worcester
• Kindergarten B: Sandy Leahy, author of The Hibernating House and grandmother of a Venerini student
• Grade 1A: Katherine Kristan, a nurse and former Venerini student
• Grade 1B: Richard Domaleski of Mansfield Holdings Group in Leicester and parent of a Venerini student
• Grades 2A and 2B: Kate Hanscom, author of Literal Lily
• Grades 3A and 3B: Jillian Gartner of American Poodles at Work
• Grades 4A and 4B: Paul Phillips, head coach of Clark University's men's basketball team
• Grades 5A and 5B: Bill Gibbons, head coach of the College of the Holy Cross' women's basketball team
• Grades 6A and 6B: Jon Olinto, co-founder of b.good restaurant in Shrewsbury
• Grades 7A and 7B: Officer Stephen Cortis and K-9 dog Brie of the Worcester Police Department
• Grades 8A and 8B: Kate Myshrall of Seven Hills Foundation and parent of a Venerini student

The Friends of Venerini will provide a continental breakfast to our readers. During this time, Venerini Academy will collect books for distribution in Worcester.
