Old Sturbridge Village Set to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Old Sturbridge Village will celebrate St. Patrick's Day with an Irish themed weekend of songs, stories and history during its Celtic Celebration weekend taking place on March 12 and 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

The Weekend 

The celebration will include historical and contemporary activities and entertainment. Guests will be able to learn Irish step dancing from representatives of Lee Irish Dance and here Irish musicians explain the difference between jigs and reels and tell of the Irish experience through song. 

Museum exhibits and historians will explain what caused the wave of Irish immigration in the 19th century and talk about what life was like for Irish families once they arrived in America. 

The weekend also features Irish tales, a portrayal of 19th century Irish immigrant Mary Culligan, Scottish dancing, and a St. Patrick's Day craft for kids. 

The Irish band Full Gael will performa a Celtic music concert at 7 p.m. on March 12. Tickets for the show are not included in daytime admission. Tickets are $12 per person, $10 for village members. 

Where to Stay 

The Old Sturbridge Inn and Reeder Family Lodges will be offering a Celtics Celebration Package which includes overnight accommodations. 

The accommodations are two days of admission to the Village, Sunday brunch for two at the Oliver Wight Tavern, a $50 gift certificate to a Sturbridge area restaurant, and two tickets to the Full Gael Celtic Concert on Saturday, March 12. Pricing for this package starts at $245.
