Providence Roller Derby Takes to the Ice

Wednesday, February 09, 2011

This weekend, the ladies of Providence Roller Derby trade in their wheels for blades for “Hearts & Scars Open Skate” at the Bank of America City Center ice rink at Kennedy Plaza. Worried about the freezing temperatures? No need—a heated tent will be on site with merchandise, a photo booth for fans to get their picture taken with their favorite skater or one another, plenty of hot chocolate and cider, and a station to decorate your own Valentine's Day cupcake or cookie.

While the evening is a social event and not an actual roller derby bout, it promises to still be action packed. The 2011 Providence Roller Derby season kicks off on March 20th.

To go: Hearts & Scars Open Skate on Saturday is on February 12th, 5-8pm, at 2 Kennedy Plaza in Providence. For more information visit providencerollerderby.com
