Puppy Love: How Waggerz Lounge Spoils Your Pets

Chris and Sherri Russell opened the facility less than 2 months ago, fulfilling a long-time dream the couples had. For over a decade, Chris worked as a paramedic and nurse, and Sherri worked as an attorney in Boston. They always owned and trained dogs as a hobby, but only recently ventured into the professional world of pet care.
“Sherri had been talking about it for a long time, so we finally decided, let’s do some research, and let’s make it happen,” said Chris.
The couple attended Animal Behavior College and became certified in dog training, dog first aid, and CPR.
The new facility offers 5,000 feet of indoor space where dogs can play and socialize, as well as a yard out back. Waggerz Lounge offers daycare, boarding, and training. Chris said even a few hours of daycare can make a huge difference in your dog’s overall mood and behavior.
“Nowadays a person works, 8, 10, 12 hours a day and the dog is confined to a room or a cage, they’re not getting the exercise they need. Not only that, but they’re not getting the socialization they need - interaction with a lot of different people other than their owners, and other dogs. We provide that,” said Chris.
Dogs who spend the night are never in cages, but rather in a large open room, and either on fluffy or cot-style beds Chris said that often times, he and Sherri stay in the same room as the dogs overnight.
Waggerz Lounge also features a full retail store, where you can purchase everything from a new dog bed to a treat to reward their good behavior. Chris recommended the bully sticks and elk antlers.
To participate in daycare, dogs must go through an interview to ensure they can behave well among other dogs. They also must be spay/neutered if they are older than 6 months, and must be up to date on vaccinations.
Waggerz Lounge is located at 17 E. Mountain Street, Worcester, MA.
