The Addams Family Comes to the Hanover Theatre
Wednesday, May 29, 2013
One of America's most beloved families is headed to the stage at the Hanover Theatre. That weird and wonderful family known famously as The Addams Family will be featured in a total of five performances on June 7, 8 and 9.
The musical comedy will feature an original story that's every father's nightmare, as explained on the Hanover's website. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. A man her parents have never met. And if that weren't upsetting enough, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he's never done before -- keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday's "normal" boyfriend and his parents.
"The Addams Family uses humor while tackling everyday problems families face. We hope people will discover the importance of family and accepting others. You may find your family to be 'kooky, mysterious, and spooky' at times, but nobody’s family is perfect. If there’s one family who pushes the boundaries of what’s considered normal, it’s The Addams Family!" exclaims Laurie Carr, Marketing Specialist for the Hanover Theatre.
The play has already been acclaimed by critics from Toronto to New Orleans and everywhere in between.
This traveling production also features Marlborough native Jennifer Fogarty as Wednesday Addams.
The Hanover Theatre: Bigger and Better
"Every year our season gets bigger and better," remarks Carr.
"Our executive director, Troy Siebels, has done a fabulous job introducing world-class entertainment and award-winning Broadway productions to Worcester. The Addams Family has received rave reviews on Broadway, so it was the perfect way to close our 2011-2012 Season on a high note. This production combines everything a Broadway buff looks for in a great musical—catchy scores, interesting characters, a message or story we can all relate to, and magnificent sets (redesigned by James Kronzer, the same set designer who created the scenes for The Hanover Theatre’s annual production of A Christmas Carol)."
Tickets cost $32, $42, $52 and $62 depending on seating. Various discounts are available, and the area presents many perfect opportunities for a relatively inexpensive night out.
"The Hanover Theatre’s mission is to foster a love and appreciation for the performing arts in audiences of today and tomorrow. We hope people will discover the endless possibilities right here in downtown Worcester. They can enjoy fine dining at Ceres Bistro or The Citizen, visit an exhibit at the Worcester Art Museum or the EcoTarium, and then drive less than 10 minutes down the road for live Broadway entertainment. You don’t have to spend Boston or New York City prices to enjoy a wonderful night out on the town," says Carr explaining the unique benefits of the Hanover Theatre and the Worcester area in general.
