The Boroughs YMCA of Central MA Branch Hosts a “Baby Shower” for Infants and Children

Thursday, May 19, 2016

The Boroughs Family Branch of the YMCA of Central Massachusetts hosted a campaign called “The Baby Shower” and invited the youth of the community to bring items for infants and children in need.

Spearheaded by Erin Demand, Child Care Director of the YMCA of Central Massachusetts, the campaign’s mission was to impart the spirit of giving to the youngest members of the YMCA community starting with ages 3 years and older.  With a serious message of giving back to those less fortunate, Erin wanted the campaign to be more lighthearted and fun—Thus the Baby Shower theme evolved.  The Borough’s YMCA collected a substantial amount of items that will serve many families who have infants and toddlers.

Friendly House

The culmination of the event is the delivery of the items to the Friendly House, 87 Elm Street, Worcester, MA on Saturday, May 21, at 11:30am. The generous donors-the 3-12 year olds-are invited to the heartwarming trip to deliver the “Baby Shower” items on Saturday to the Friendly House.  Sharon Henderson, Director of Marketing and Communications of YMCA of Central Massachusetts, extends a personal invitation to the Worcester County and Metro West Media to be there on Saturday to document this newsworthy and heartwarming event.

About the Y: With 5 locations, Worcester * Westborough * Fitchburg * Leominster-- Founded in 1864, and celebrating 152 years, the YMCA of Central Massachusetts is a charitable, cause driven, community-based service organization committed to strengthening the foundation of community through Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.  The YMCA of Central Massachusetts is devoted to develop the spirit, mind and body of all people, regardless of age, race and income, through programs and activities guided by and based upon our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
