1990 Marvel Comics Uncanny X-Men No. 266

When it came to the buying, collecting, and selling of comics, Modern Age (1985+) books were always considered worthless, not even worth their original retail of a dollar but thanks to 20th Century Fox and the ever expanding X-Men film series modern books are gaining a track record. Marvel Comics Uncanny X-Men issue 266 featured the first appearance of Gambit, a very popular character soon to have his own solo film said to be played by Channing Tatum.

1988 Playmates Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Donatello

When the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series was released in 1987, die hard fans of the time almost didn’t recognize the heroes in a half shell when compared to the original 1984 Eastman and Laird series. Since their 1987 debut, the pizza obsessed turtles have gone on to star in six feature films along with numerous television series. With the turtles being such a young brand their collectability and market is growing with the supply only getting smaller.

1993 Bandai Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Megazord

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were introduced to America in 1993 after the long running success of Super Sentai in Japan since 1975. That’s right, America was missing out on Power Rangers for almost twenty years. With a first film scheduled for a early 2017 release the brand is sure to experience a market spike.

1980 Kenner Star Wars Empire Strikes Back Boba Fett

There is no question that after Return of The Jedi fans were left in a drought not receiving a movie until 1999 with Phantom Menace. At the time the prequel trilogy was not well received and did not provide a nurturing environment for the Star Wars collectable market. It wasn’t until the revitalization of the brand with the Disney acquisition and release of Episode VI that drove value through the roof.

1993 D.C Comics Batman No. 497

Marvel without a question has proven they are the leaders in creating a comic cinematic universe but D.C certainly has their moments. The success of the Dark Knight trilogy created the market for the 90’s books the movies were based off of.
