Two Blackstone Valley Tech Students Receive Superintendents Awards

Blackstone Valley Tech has announced the recipients of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents Award of Academic Excellence.

The winners are Zoe Mahoney and Alex Goldberg.

“Zoe and Alex are shining examples of the excellence we all strive for at BVT. It has been a pleasure watching these two rising stars, and we look forward to seeing what they will accomplish as BVT graduates,” said Principal Anthony Steele.

The annual award is presented to two BVT seniors who exemplify the school’s commitment to cutting-edge career technical training and rigorous academics.

Mahoney and Goldberg will both graduate in May from the Engineering Technology program.

About Mahoney

Mahoney is the Class of 2019 Valedictorian and a member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society.

She has embraced her high school experience and has risen above her peers academically, vocationally and on the field of competition.

She received the M.A.S.S. Certificate of Academic Excellence.

Apart from her position at the top of the class, Mahoney is the captain of the Varsity Field Hockey team where she was acknowledged in the Metro West Daily News and as a CAL All-star. She is a member of the Robotics Club and received the Robotics 2018 Fall Classic Excellence Award.

She is Treasurer of the Aviation Club and competes yearly in SkillsUSA.

About Goldberg

Alex Goldberg

Goldberg is the Class of 2019 Salutatorian and is Vice President of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society.

Goldberg maintains a very solid standing in his academic and vocational coursework. He is this year’s recipient of the Rensselaer Medal, which is awarded for outstanding achievement in Math and Science.

Goldberg is a member of SkillsUSA and will be participating this year in the Related Technical Math competition. He is Secretary of the Gaming Club.
