Washington County Fair

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

Tractor-pull devotees can exhale–it’s finally here.

The largest fair and agricultural event in Rhode Island, the Washington County Fair, returns to Richmond’s Pomona Grange August 11-15 with an exciting line up of perennial favorites and new additions. Celebrating its 44th year, the fair includes daily concerts and acts, a midway and kiddy-land area, agricultural events and shows, exhibits and displays, tractor and horse pulls, a farm museum and more.

Creating quite a buzz is the midway’s addition of the largest traveling roller coaster on the East Coast–four stories tall and 180 feet long. Concert highlights in The Marvelettes (Wednesday), The Band Perry (Thursday), American Idol finalist and country crooner Bucky Covington (Friday), Sammy “Queen of My Double-Wide Trailer” Kershaw (Saturday), and The Ladies of the Grand Old Opry (Sunday). The fair will be posting images on their daily photo blog here and posting daily livestock results.
