The film festival will kick-off tonight with the presentation of 'No,' a drama based on a true story around Ad-man René Saavedra and his campaign to vote "No" against former Chilean President Augusto Pinochet to stay in power. Saavedra, played by Gael Garcia Bernal, uses marking strategies of the American Cola Wars to push his campaign against his Saavedra's own boss Lucho Guzmán heading the "Yes" vote campaign.
Directed by Pablo Larrain, "No" will air tonight at 7:30 PM.
The feature film this year is called 'El Boxeo,' a documentary by Director Alan Swyer. El Boxeo tells the story of the emergence of Latinos in the sport of boxing. According to Cinema320.com, "The film illustrates the evolution of the sport as Latino fighters exploded onto the scene. And, reveals how these immigrant pugilists redefined the world of boxing and established the west coast as the new mecca in the sport. EL BOXEO is as much a film about Latinos in boxing as it is about the immigrant stories that reshaped the sport."
