Worcester Chamber Music Society Announces Season 9

Worcester Chamber Music Society has announced their ninth season. The season features the Main Stage Series, Café Concerts and Very Open Rehearsals (VOR).  The Main Stage Series features a blend of chamber music gems and fantastic works rarely performed in this area. The Café Series offers lighter fare, and our VOR’s engages the audience in an educational experience.

Annual Family Concert: The Emperor’s New Clothes

Sunday, March 1, Mechanics Hall, Worcester   3:00 PM

With guests William Kirkley, clarinet and Robert Schultz, percussion

WCMS musicians will perform the piece with narrator Rohan Gregory. In conjunction with Youth Art Month, drawings created by Worcester Public School students will be projected above the musicians to compliment the story telling. Following the performance, the children are invited to meet the musicians and see the instruments up close.

Bach and Beyond

Thursday, April 9, Unitarian Universalist Church, Harvard    7:30 PM

Sunday, April 12, Mechanics Hall/Washburn, Worcester    4:00 PM

This concert features works of Bach alongside 20th and 21st century works based on the music of Bach.

Our Café Series continues with 2 concerts at the award winning Nuovo Restaurant and one concert at Eric’s La Patisserie. Enjoy wine and dessert during the performance for a real French Café experience, or choose the dinner ticket option for a delicious buffet dinner before the show (October 16, January 15 & March 12).

Very Open Rehearsals (VOR) November 9, February 21, March 28

A VOR is an opportunity to watch WCMS at work, and see how a piece of music is shaped and polished by the musicians. They are performed in private homes and include a light dinner following the rehearsal. It is truly an engaging and enlightening experience. Proceeds fund WCMS' Neighborhood Strings program.

There will be a pre-concert talk 1/2 hr. before each concert. Tickets $27-$52, Student Rush $8 at the door with a WOO card. Children under 17 free admission when accompanied by an adult.  All venues are handicapped accessible. Double WOO points.

64th Annual Charter Communications Summer Family Concert Series

With roots dating to 1947, the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra for over six and a half decades has presented high-quality symphonic performances for more than two million concert-goers. Take in the 64th annual charter Communications Summer Family concert Series.  Enjoy fireworks with your Tchaikovsky and celebrate Independence Day on Thursday, July 3 at 8 PM in East Park. “Classics to Broadway” will be held on Sunday, July 13 at Institute Park and a Salute to Disney on July 20. Both will be at 7PM at Institute Park. All Concerts Free

Fruitlands Museum Summer Concert Series

Every Thursday, June 21 – July 26, 7PM

102 Prospect Hill Rd, Harvard, MA 01451

Description: Join us at Fruitlands for our 27th season with the Concord Band. Grounds open at 6PM for picnics. Concerts are Thursdays at 7:15pm from June 13 until August 8. The Harvard Lions Club will be selling food and drinks. Bring a blanket or chairs to sit on as the concerts are held outdoors. Handicapped seating is available under the tent on the patio. Your concert admission includes access to all the buildings. $10/car for museum members, $15/car for nonmembers. Dogs welcome. Check the front page of the Fruitlands’ site for cancellations due to weather.

Out to Lunch Concert Series & Farmers Market

Sterling Summer Concert Series

A free summer concert series is offered by the town of Sterling on Monday and Wednesday nights beginning July 2 from 6 - 8 PM at Memorial Park. The season kicks off with the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast.
