Worcester Parks Recreation Program Starts Today

Recreation Worcester, the city's new summer program for youth, will begin its parks component on Monday.

The program officially kicked off June 29 with a full week of swim classes at pools around Worcester. Starting Monday, the program moves to the parks for literacy and arts activities and organized sports, all facilitated by trained Youth Workers. 

There will be various special guest appearances, including the Worcester Bravehearts, Worcester's Library Express, National Grid, Hoop Central and the Mass Audubon Society. 

Youth ages 7 to 13 are welcome to register for the parks program. Registration forms are available at worcesterma.gov/recreationworcester and can be dropped off at the park sites.

Recreation Worcester runs from 9 PM to 5:30 PM at 11 parks in Worcester. The program will end on Friday, August 7. Participants may attend as many or as few weekly sessions as they would like.

Programs will be offered at the following sites: 

  • Beaverbrook Park (9 Mann St) 
  • Burncoat Playground (525 Burncoat St) 
  • East Park (180 Shrewsbury St.) 
  • Greenwood Park (14 Forsberg St.) 
  • Kendrick Field (40 Brooks St.) 
  • Lake Park (281 Lake Avenue) 
  • Logan Field (539 Mill St.) 
  • Oread Castle Park (20 Alden St.) 
  • University Park (965 Main St.) 
  • Bennett Field (1260 Main St.) 
  • Vernon Hill Park (87 Providence St.)
