Worcester Pride Names City Manager Augustus as Parade’s Honorary Grand Marshall

Over the course of ten days, Worcester Pride will be celebrating gay pride throughout the city of Worcester. The celebration will culminate on September 12 with five Pride events, including the Worcester Pride parade.

The theme of this year's celebration is "Love Will Keep Us Together!" and in line with that theme, Worcester Pride is asking all loving couples to march at the front of the parade as this year's official Grand Marshalls.

Worcester Pride has also announced that Worcester's City Manager Ed Augustus will be the 2015 Honorary Grand Marshall.

In a released statement, Worcester Pride said, "We are pleased to acknowledge to work that the city manager has done in the short time he has been here, not the lease of which, he has helped the city move forward and get a 100% rating from the Human Rights Campaign's Livable City Index."

Schedule of Events:

September 2 - 6-8PM Opening reception of Worcester Pride Art Show @ Electric Haze 26 Millbury St. The show is on exhibit 9/2/15-10/6/15 

September 9 - Pride Kick off Night at Bocado featuring their Wine Dinner
                          
September 10 - 3PM Pride Flag Raising at City Hall
                            
September 10 - 4PM Pride Flag Raising at Union Station (*new this year)
                           
September 11 - 7-10PM LGBTQI Pride Pageant at Fiddler’s Green, 19 Temple St.
                           
September 11 - 10:30PM- 1:00 AM After Pageant Party @ Electric Haze 26 Millbury St. featuring the Worcester Pride Art Show 

September 12 - 11AM Worcester Pride Parade  
      – Grand Marshals are “Loving Couples” and 
      – Honorary Grand Marshal City Manager Edward Augustus

September 12 - Noon-6PM Worcester Pride Festival on the Worcester Common
      – featuring Glen Stewart and dozens more of local talent, community Vendors, Food, the Woo Church Kids Zone, as well as community and elected leaders. 

September 12 - 7PM-10PM Worcester Youth Pride Dance (16-20) at Wycked Java Café 100 Water St

September 12 - 7PM-2AM Pride Block Party at MB Lounge 40 Grafton St.  $10 Cover, plus suggested $5 Donation to Worcester Pride 

September 12 - 11PM-2AM Sweet After Pride Party $5 Cover goes to Pride at Sweet Kitchen and Bar 72 Shrewsbury St.
