Worcester Windows Set to Open New Exhibit at City Hall
Wednesday, December 09, 2015
The exhibit will be located at the community gallery in the basement of City Hall, 455 Main St. The exhibit will be open during City Hall hours starting now and running through February.
"Worcester's streets are full of architectural riches and outstanding monuments; yet as we whiz by in our cars, they often go unnoticed. For this exhibition Preservation Worcester has collaborated with Seven Hills Camera Club and the Worcester Alliance of Photographers to challenge members to look closely at the city's built environment and to ferret out the beautiful and the unexpected that surrounds us in our daily lives," said Susan Ceccacci of Preservation Worcester.
The photographs selected for the exhibit highlight geometrical shapes, texture, and play with create angles to express a different perspective of the city's built architecture, both modern and historic.
Worcester Windows is a community gallery program which uses storefronts throughout downtown Worcester as exhibit space to enhance the City's downtown area. Along with that, Worcester Windows provides display chances for local emerging and established artists.
"Worcester has such a rich and interesting history, and you can still see so much of it in our architecture thanks to the efforts of Preservation Worcester and others who care about the city's past. I'm thrilled we are able to host this exhibit, to give people a different viewpoint on some of our community's greatest, and too often unnoticed, gems," said City Manager Ed Augustus Jr.
