Meet the 13 men and women who are poised for big things in the New Year--from politics and news to business, arts, and sports.

2013 is sure to hold a lot of promise for Central Mass, and you can bet these individuals and issues won't be far from the action.

From freshman legislators to sophomores just hitting their stride, Massachusetts politics will, of course, be a mainstay, but there's a good chance it won't just be politics as usual.

New laws surrounding casino gaming and medical marijuana could change the lay of the land in the Worcester area, and local artists and musicians will most definitely change the way it looks and sounds.
