15-Month-Old Baby in Back Seat, As Worcester Woman Deals Drugs in the Front Seat, Say WPD

Worcester Police Vice Squad officers were doing surveillance in the area of Kingsbury St. At about 11:15 AM, vice squad officers were monitoring the movements of a white Chevy Trail Blazer.
According to Worcester Police, they observed the vehicle's driver and passenger, Erika Santiago, thirty-six-years-old of Spencer, and Abisai Perez, 30-years-old of 9 May St #206 in Worcester, stop at an address and make hand-to-hand transactions with a resident on Kingsbury St.
After witnessing the transaction and determining that a drug deal had been made, officers stopped the vehicle on King St. A search of the vehicle revealed eleven bags of a brown powder believed to be heroin. In addition, Ms. Santiago’s 15-month-old baby daughter was in the back seat. Ms. Santiago and Mr. Perez were placed under arrest and charged with Distribution of a Class A Substance and Possession of a Class A Substance with intent to Distribute. They will be arraigned in Worcester District Court. A family friend picked up the child, and DCF was notified.
