2-Year-Old Boy and Mother Shot in Plumley Village in Worcester

According to Worcester Police Department sources, the mother and son were walking towards their building in the housing complex when they were shot. Around 8:30 PM, shots were reported by Shotspotter in the vicinity of Laurel Street. The shooting occurred on Everett Gaylord Boulevard.
As of Monday evening, the infant was stable after being shot in the shoulder. The mother was shot in the arm and hand and suffered non-life threatening injuries. According to WPD, preliminary reports indicate that the two victims are expected to survive from their wounds.
Information from the WPD police scanner indicated that officers are looking for a light skin Hispanic male, roughly 5'5" to 5'6", in his late 20s to early 30s, with curly hair and wearing a dark shirt with dark pants.
A witness notified the WPD of a second suspect. The only information about the second suspect available at this time is that the suspect was a male, wearing a turquoise blue shirt.
The gang unit and K-9 units responded to the scene and, according to reports on the scanner, two females were transported to the Worcester Police station for questioning.
According to the Worcester PD, this is the 20th shooting in the city this year.
Worcester Police detectives responded to the scene as well members of the Crime Scene Unit. The crime scene was located in the rear lot of 40 Everett Gaylord Boulevard. Investigators are currently interviewing witnesses while the Crime Scene Unit process evidence.
This investigation is in the beginning stages with very limited information at this time. A motive has yet to be established.
