22-Year-Old Man Victim of 4th Homicide in Worcester This Year

Sunday, June 28, 2015

On Thursday afternoon, a 22-year-old man was shot inside Hope Cemetery while visiting the grave site of a deceased friend. The victim was driven to UMass Memorial Hospital by his friends where subsequently died from his gun shot wounds on Thursday evening. This is the fourth homicide in Worcester this year and the third by gunfire.

According to Worcester Police, while the three men were visiting the gravesite, a vehicle drove by and a male from inside the vehicle fired at the group and then the vehicle fled the scene.

A crime scene was located inside the cemetery. The Worcester Police Crime Scene Unit sealed off that area and processed evidence. The Crime Scene Unit also processed evidence inside the vehicle that the suspect was transported in.

Worcester police detectives responded to both crime scenes. Interviews were conducted as investigators attempt to identify the suspect(s). As of now, a motive is unclear and the victim's name is being withheld until family is notified.
