24-Year-Old Man Shot Dead During Dispute on Hamilton Street in Worcester

Police have arrested and charged Jacinto Maldonado, 42, of 92 Hamilton Street aggravated assault and battery with the intent to cause serious bodily injury.
This investigation is ongoing. It is anticipated that additional charges may be pending.
The victim’s name will not be released at this time until all proper notifications have been made to the victim’s family.
Additional information will be released when it becomes available.
The Incident
Worcester police responded to 92 Hamilton Street for a report of a shooting. Upon the officers arrival they observed a 24-year-old man lying in the front lawn on his back suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was unconscious at the time. Another man was next to the victim attempting to apply pressure on the wound.
Officers observed several bystanders pointing to the rear of the building. Officers also saw a man, later identified as Jacinto Maldonado, 42, of 92 Hamilton Street, lying chest down on the ground with his arms apart. Maldonado appeared to be waiting for police to approach him. One officer went to the back of the building where witnesses were pointing to. The officer found a firearm on the ground. Maldonado was in close proximity to the weapon. At this time officers placed Maldonado in handcuffs as a precautionary measure. Maldonado was not under arrest at the time.
Worcester EMS arrived and quickly transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. At approximately 6:19 PM, the victim was pronounced deceased.
The medical Examiners office has accepted the case and the exact cause of death will be pending the post mortem examination.
Maldonado was transported to police headquarters for questioning.
The Investigation
The preliminary investigation indicates that there was a neighbor dispute which involved Maldonado and the victim. During the argument the neighbor was shot.
At this time Maldonado was placed under arrest and charged
