25-Year-Old Worcester Woman Raped and Beaten Off Lincoln Street By Homeless Man

Monday, July 11, 2016

Attack took place off of Lincoln Street in Worcester

A 25-year-old Worcester woman was attacked, beaten and raped by a homeless man in woods off of Lincoln Street.

According to Worcester Police, the woman informed police that she had been walking in a wooded area off of Lincoln Street when she was accosted by the male suspect on Thursday. The report was released on Sunday night.

“The victim stated that the suspect confronted her and made sexual advances towards her which the female victim refused. At this time, the suspect attacked the female and sexually assaulted her. The suspect also choked the female victim until she was close to losing consciousness. During the assault, the female was able to break free from the suspect and flee on foot, running into the middle of Lincoln Street where she was discovered by witnesses who then called the police,” according to Worcester Police.

The victim was able to describe the man that attacked her as well as his direction of travel. The rape victim hadvisible injuries to her face, neck, and body and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Police then spoke with witnesses who observed a portion of the incident. Witnesses informed police that they had observed the female victim run into the middle of Lincoln Street with a male suspect chasing her. Just prior to the arrival of police, witnesses observed the suspect flee into a wooded area off of Lincoln Street.

After receiving this information, K-9 Officer Tom Bishop along with his K-9 Elmar were requested to the scene. Upon arrival, they began a track of the suspect. The track led them to a wooded area off of Lincoln Street that was previously described by the witnesses. Officers tracked through the woods and located a make-shift tent. K-9 Elmar alerted on the tent. Officers discovered a male hiding in the tent. The male matched the description of the suspect provided by the victim and the witness. The male was instructed to exit the tent, and he complied.

Based on the descriptions provided by the witnesses and victim along with further investigation at the scene, Officers developed probable cause to place the male under arrest.

At this time, police are still working to obtain an accurate name and date of birth on the individual who was arrested. Once this is accomplished, his name will be released. At this time, the male is being charged with two counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on Person over 14, Kidnapping, and Strangulation.
