58% of Worcester County Jail Population is White, 13% Higher than MA Average

In 2013, there were 331 Hispanic/Latino inmates and 166 Black/African American inmates.
In Massachusetts in 2013, more than 11,000 inmates were locked up in county jails. More than 5,000 of those inmates were White (45%). A combined 5,400 were Black/African American or Hispanic/Latino.
According to the statistics, in 2013 there were 731,208 inmates in local jails in the United States. Nearly 345,000 of those inmates were White. 261,500 were Black/African American and 108,000 were Hispanic/Latino.
In Federal and State Prisons across America, only 29% of the inmates were White in 2013.
