58% of Worcester County Jail Population is White, 13% Higher than MA Average

Of the more than 1,200 inmates at the Worcester County Jail and House of Correction in 2013, 713 (58%) of them were White. According to 2013 statistics from the U.S. Department of Justice, put together by FindtheBest.com, the percentage of White inmates in Worcester County Jail is 13% higher than the Massachusetts average of 45% for local jails.

In 2013, there were 331 Hispanic/Latino inmates and 166 Black/African American inmates.

In Massachusetts in 2013, more than 11,000 inmates were locked up in county jails. More than 5,000 of those inmates were White (45%). A combined 5,400 were Black/African American or Hispanic/Latino. 

According to the statistics, in 2013 there were 731,208 inmates in local jails in the United States. Nearly 345,000 of those inmates were White. 261,500 were Black/African American and 108,000 were Hispanic/Latino.

In Federal and State Prisons across America, only 29% of the inmates were White in 2013.
