Friday, December 28, 2018

911 calls in MA are affected by CenturyLink Outage

Massachusetts is experiencing 911 connectivity issues due to a nationwide CenturyLink outage that took place on Friday morning.

For those in Worcester needing emergency help and can't get through, Worcester Emergency Management advises citizens to call 508-799-8606 to connect to the Worcester Regional Emergency Communications.

Residents are advised to always try 911 first.

CenturyLink Outage

CenturyLink is based in Louisiana and is one of the main providers of internet and phone connections to 911 call centers across the country.

According to the company, work is still being done to fix the issue.

“Restoring impacted services for our customers is very important to us. We are seeing good progress, but our service restoration work is not complete. Our teams are continuing their efforts to resolve these issues and we will continue to provide updates throughout the day,” the company said in a tweet.
