Black Families Together Hosts Community Event to Discuss Edu, Policing and Diversity Hiring

Black Families Together is hosting a community event that will occur in a virtual format and will provide a unique opportunity for public officials to listen to the concerns of Worcester’s Black Community, primarily related to education, police reform, and diversity hiring. 

The event will be live on Zoom and Streamed at http://www.wuty979fm.org through the efforts of the “Alliance Media Group” (AMG). Visit (http://www.wuty979fm.org).

Invited Worcester Officials: City Manager - Edward Augustus, Mayor - Joseph Petty, School Superintendent - Maureen Binienda, Police Chief - Steven Sargent, Commissioner of Health & Human Services - Dr. Mattie Castiel, Office of Human Rights - Jayna Turchek, Esq., Congressman - James McGovern, Worcester State University President - Barry Maloney, Quinsigamond Community College President - Dr. Luis G. Pedraja, the Worcester City Council, the Worcester School Committee, and the Massachusetts Legislative Delegation.

Black Families Together Is comprised of Black people who live and/or work in the City of Worcester. Black Families Together has united to address systemic racism and the inequities that exist for Black people in our society as they relate to the City of Worcester. Black Families Together has identified several priority areas: Black Business Ownership, Education, Police/Criminal Justice Reform, Young Adult Leadership, Disparate Health Outcomes, Black Community Empowerment, Access to Capital - Loans and Grants, Black Participation in Local Elections and Government
