Marathon Bomber’s Funeral to be Held in Worcester

Saturday, May 04, 2013

The prepartion for the funeral for Boston Marathon bombing suspect, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, will be held at Worcester's Graham Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors on Main Street. The bomber died as a result of both being wounded in a gunfight with police and blunt force trama, according to the coroners' report.

The blunt force trama may be as a result of his younger brother driving over him in his attempt to escape.

The funeral parlor, located at 838 Main Street, has been performing services since 1864.

"We take pride in having been able to serve others in time of need. Known for our compassionate personal touch, we consider each family we serve as being a part of our own family," the funeral home's Web site states. "We always provide our families with compassion, understanding and unparalleled level of service. We believe that personal service and attention to the needs of the family are the most important responsibilities, before, during and after the funeral service."

As of late Friday evening no cemetery had agreed to take the burial.

The funeral home is led by a team of three.

According to the home's Web site:

Peter Stefan is a Funeral Director with over 35 years experience serving families in the Worcester, MA area. He is a member of the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association.

Peter Golov, Funeral Director of Planning Ahead, is a fourth generation Funeral Director with over 15 years experience and is also a licensed Insurance Agent in Massachusetts.

Alfred J. Lauretano is a Funeral Director and Embalmer with over 8 years of experience. He is also a Veteran who has served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1978-1982.
