Central MA Soldier Killed in Attack in Afghanistan

Dawson died on Wednesday in Jalalabad, Afghanistan from wounds suffered in an attack while he was on an escort mission.
According to the DOD, Dawson was assigned to 1st Squadron, 33 Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Dawson was in Afghanistan supporting Operation Freedom's Sentinel. At this time, there is no known motive for the attack and it is unknown what group is responsible for it.
Dawson is survived by his parents, Rhonda and Michael Dawson of Whitinsville.
