U.S. Under Secretary Sewall to Host Lecture on Human Rights at Clark

U.S. Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Sarah Sewall will give a lecture on "Issues and Careers at the Nexus of Human Rights and Security" at Clark University.

The lecture will take place on Wednesday, October 12 at 3 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Before joining the executive branch in 2014, Sewall served for six years as Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to U.S. Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell. 

She earned a Ph.D. at Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar.

Sewall taught at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where she served as director of the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy and directed the program on National Security and Human Rights. 

Sewall will make other stops in New England from Oct. 11-14, including a meeting with the Boston Police Department and resettled refugees, a talk at Harvard Law School, and at the Fletcher School at Tufts University, according to the U.S. Department of State.
