NEW: Former Worcester Mayor Joins Holy Cross Administration
Wednesday, January 29, 2014
The job will involve facilitating communication and cooperation between the College and the Worcester community, serving as the College's representative and advocate in local, state and federal government.
The intersection of Holy Cross and Worcester municipal government is appropriate for Anderson, who has devoted so much of his career to those two institutions. A graduate of Holy Cross in 1957, began teaching at the College in 1961. Though he nominally retired in 2001, he continues to teach one class a year. Meanwhile, Anderson served as Councilman from 1975 to 1998, with a stint in the Mayor's office in 1986.
"John Anderson has been a member of the Holy Cross and Worcester communities for more than 50 years," said Holy Cross President Rev. Philip L. Boroughs. "His strong relationships with the City residents and organizations, and rich history as public servant, will help Holy Cross maintain and build long-lasting partnerships."
