Four Men Injured in Serious Crash on Belmont St. in Worcester

Thursday, May 11, 2017

Four men were injured following a serious head-on crash at the intersection of Belmont st. and Skyline Drive on Tuesday night.

Two of the four men were unresponsive when police arrived on the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Incident

On Tuesday, May 9, at 8:15 p.m., Worcester Police responded to the intersection of Belmont St and Skyline Drive for a report of a serious, head-on collision between a Chevy sedan and Nissan SUV. Members of the Operations Division found one unresponsive man, later identified as a 19-year old from Shrewsbury, on the ground near the car, and one unresponsive man, later identified as a 21-year old from Oxford, inside the Chevy. A 20-year old Shrewsbury man had been in the Chevy during the accident, but was on his feet outside the car when officers arrived.

The driver of the Nissan, a 47-year-old Worcester man, was alert and conscious following the accident. Both cars sustained heavy front-end damage. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Chevy Malibu was traveling west on Belmont Street. The 2001 Nissan Xterra was traveling east on Belmont Street. The crash occurred in the westbound lane of Belmont Street at the intersection of Skyline Drive. Following the head-on collision with the Nissan, the Chevy continued moving and struck an electrical box head on.

All four individuals involved in the crash were transported by ambulance to the hospital. The crash is being investigated by the Crash Reconstruction Unit.
