“Global Cultures” Conference at Clark to Feature International Writers

Clark University will host a day-long conference featuring international writers to discuss Global Cultures.

The conference will take place on Friday, November 10 and is open to the public.

The Conference

Sarah Stanbury,  professor in the Arts and Humanities from the College of the Holy Cross, will deliver the plenary, “Homeliness,” at 9 a.m. 

Fiction writer Myfanwy Collins, author of the recent young adult novel “The Book of Laney,” will present “Flash Fiction: A miniature horse is not a baby horse,” at Noon.  

Panels throughout the day will focus on diversity and inclusion in contemporary society, cross-cultural writing, and gender.

Other Highlights include:

  • Henry F. Fradella, professor and associate director of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Arizona State University will present “The Hamlet Syndrome,” at 10:15 a.m.
  • Peter Murray, a doctoral candidate from Fordham University will present “The Muteness Envy of Hillary Rodham Clinton; or, the Hazards of Speaking in Public as a Woman,”at 1:45 p.m.;
  • Angie Woodmansee, assistant director of study abroad at the College of the Holy Cross, will present “Risking My Life, Privilege Abroad and at Home” at 3:30 p.m.; 
  • Carol Bailey, assistant professor of English at Westfield State University, will present “It’s complicated: Black Womanhood Afterwards,” at 5:15 p.m.
