Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester received a grant from The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts for $30,000.

“Housing is an important determinant of health, and The Health Foundation is pleased to support this critical program that helps homeowners remain in their homes safely and with dignity. We hope local organizations and agencies will refer needy individuals and families to this Home Repair program, which now has greater capacity to carry out projects with the purchase of this truck,”  said Dr. Jan Yost, President and CEO of The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts.

The grant allowed the organization to buy a 14’ box truck to help expand and better serve local families through their Home Repair program.

Home Repair Program

Through the Home Repair program, more local low-to-moderate income homeowner families and veterans to will be able to reclaim their homes with pride and dignity.

The program focuses on exterior home repairs to address health, life, and safety/code issues such as roof repairs or replacement, renovations to improve handicap accessibility, and deck repairs or replacement. It allows families to stay in the home where they live without being disrupted by the uncertainty, trauma, and expense of moving.

The Home Repair program is offered in 42 cities and towns that HFH MW/GW serves throughout Massachusetts in Greater Worcester and MetroWest.

The truck will be used to efficiently transport tools, supplies, paints, and many other materials to each home repair site.
