Holy Name High School Launches “Set the Stage” with Fundraising Event

Thursday, May 21, 2015

As part of its “Set the Stage” Capital Campaign, Holy Name High School in Worcester is hosting an evening of fundraising and entertainment on May 30.

The night will be highlighted with performances by current students, a band and chorus alumni show, and a concert featuring Dan Gabel and The Abletones. Dan Gabel and The Abletones is an authentic 18-piece Big Band, specializing in the music of the 1930s and 40s. Bandleader Dan Gabel has played with the Glenn Miller Orchestra for over a year on a world-tour, played with the Tommy Dorsey and Hal McIntyre Orchestras, and is considered an expert on the big band era.

The evening will begin at 6 PM with a cocktail hour and silent auction, followed by the performances. Winners of the silent auction will be announced following the student performances.  The night is being generously sponsored by Wormtown Brewery, Plaza Azteca Restaurant and Palomar Printing.

Holy Name strives to provide the best performing arts program in Central Massachusetts. HN has increased the personnel in the music and theater programs and have hired directors who have renewed the enthusiasm and joy in these departments. In its Joseph P. Burke Performing Arts Center, the school has recently painted the walls, added new curtains, and have cleaned out the backstage area.

Following its fundraising efforts, Holy Name is hoping to install new seating, lighting, sound system and carpeting. The school is embarking on a capital campaign to raise the sum of $175,000.

Holy Name has also started a GoFundMe fundraising page to help raise money towards its goal. The GoFundMe page can be found here: Set the Stage Capital Campaign.

Donations over $500 to the campaign include the donor’s name inscribed on one of the new seats, the donor’s name on a plaque outside of the Performing Arts Center and complimentary tickets to Holy Name’s annual performances.

Please help make the Joseph P. Burke Performing Arts Center reflect the excellence of the student performances within it.
