Lt. Governor Polito to Guest Speak at WCAC’s Action Hero Celebration

Tuesday, May 02, 2017

Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito

Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito will guest speak at Worcester Community Action Council’s 11th annual Action Hero Celebration.

The celebration will take place on Wednesday, May 24 from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Mechanics Hall in Worcester.

"We are thrilled to welcome Lieutenant Governor Polito to our event, and we look forward to Noah Berger's remarks relative to poverty and opportunity here in Massachusetts. These are certainly challenging and uncertain times but we believe it is more important than ever to celebrate the heroes who support our efforts to help so many people reach economic self-sufficiency. This year's Action Hero honorees are no exception,” said WCAC Executive Director Jill Dailies.

The Celebration

WCAC will celebrate four honorees whose efforts have gone above and beyond in supporting the agency's anti-poverty efforts.

The 2017 awardees include: UMass Memorial Health Care for their unwavering support of youth employment, specifically the YouthWorks Summer Jobs Program; Charlton Oil for their incredible efforts on behalf of the agency's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and weatherization clients; Biodun Akande for his diligence on behalf of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program; and the agency's own Head Start program which is celebrating 25 years of service in the Southbridge-Webster area.

Tickets to the celebration are $50 and can be purchased by clicking here.
